Ipoh Salted Chicken

Few months back Facebook was flooded with people sharing very positive review on a product called Herbalton Ipoh Salted Chicken Spices Mix. I have been wanting to try it out but seriously have no idea where I can get it - not available in major supermarket at that time.

Just few days ago I dropped by at a local sundry store near my house and to my surprise the shop is selling this very spices mix by Herbaltone.
Indeed a super easy dish to prepare on a lazy Saturday afternoon! The whole family loves it!

And now I know why Facebook users were raving about this product...it taste really yummy with a mild hint of Dong Quai. The perfect dish for all!

Ipoh Salted Chicken

1/2 packet Herbalton Ipoh Salted Chicken (one whole pack if cooking with a whole chicken)
2 pcs Whole Chicken Leg (de-skin)
3 pcs Sliced Dong Quai

Directions:

  • Rub the spices mix on chicken and let it marinate for at least 4 hours (overnight for best result) in the refrigerator.

  • Wrap the chicken with aluminium foil and seal it tightly (Tips: Be sure you don't tear or poke on the foil so that the chicken essence/juices will be retained).
  • Pour some water into the inner pot of the Philips Pressure Cooker then insert the steamer rack (ips: Place a piece of cloth under the steamer rack to avoid steamer stands scratching the inner pot).
  • Place the foil-wrapped chicken on the steamer rack.
  • Close the lid securely and position the valve to Seal.
  • Turn on the pressure cooker and select Steam/Stew mode.
  • Press and hold the Keeping Pressure Time button for 3 seconds to activate it then increase the KPT to 30 minutes.
  • Press and hold the Start button for 3 seconds to start steaming.
